My full and undying respect to the dude who got pulled for extra inspection at ZAG because he had a PS5 in his carry-on bag. And nothing else, of course, because the PS5 itself is absolutely massive.

That said, please don't read this as a refutation of the statements in this article. During my time there, CNET was a large org and I rarely had insight about what was going on in other corners of it. I have no first-hand knowledge either way.

Sometimes silence speaks louder than words so I just want to say that, while at CNET, I never received pressure to write positive content for sponsors. Believe you me, I would have flipped the $*#$% out had anyone attempted to apply any.

New: CNET's AI saga is just the most visible effect of being owned by Red Ventures, a private equity-backed marketing firm. Former staff told me about the breakdown of editorial firewalls at CNET, including being pushed to change stories for advertisers. theverge.com/2023/2/2/23582

Totally loving Taylor Swift's suit, which is designed to break up her shape against the background, thereby making it difficult for German U-Boats to calculate her range, speed and direction.

I really wasn't quite sure what to expect for this lifted 911, but I surely didn't expect it to be this good.

when Porsche showed the 911 Dakar, I was skeptical. it's easy to make an all-show hack-up, lifted but otherwise unchanged. @Tim_Stevens shared my concern — but after driving the Dakar, he came away gobsmacked. check out his review on @Jalopnik jalopnik.com/2023-porsche-9

A remarkable day touring the factory and taking this beauty for a spin. The Nevara is like nothing else on the road. Ridiculous power backed by the most advanced traction control I've ever felt. Unreal.

Big Tech is trying to conjure the good old days — the "scrappy days." Google was once “small and scrappy." Facebook wants workers to “return to a scrappier culture.” Amazon told employees to be “inventive, resourceful, and scrappy" vox.com/recode/2357343

Most pinball tables have at least a few gates like this, designed to let the ball go through one way but not the other. Replacements can be hard to find and expensive for what they are. 20 mins fiddling with a wire bender and I had a near-perfect replacement.

Had to figure out how to make wire forms this weekend. Latest DIY skill acquired for pinball restoration. You can see the old wire gate on the bottom with the broken leg. Up top is my DIY replacement.

Hey weird car Twitter friends, anybody know anybody who might be interested in taking over a part (or all) of one of America's leading Citroen restoration businesses? If so, HMU.

The management at my mother's senior apartment complex decided to change the trash pickup procedure. It nearly caused a riot among her elderly neighbors. They were practically getting into fist fights with maintenance crews to because they didn't like the new trash can design.

For those affected, after a little back and forth support basically said they're aware of the issue but fixing isn't a priority. With the gazillions HBO spends on content you'd think they could throw their dev team more resources to make sure people can watch the stuff.

Hey @hbomax, think you dudes could maybe someday fix the bug on your iPad app that makes downloads not play unless you have an active wifi connection? Has been broken for years and kiiiinda limits the usefulness of downloaded content. reddit.com/r/HBOMAX/comme
