Modern day robbery, I still don't understand why it's 30% considering the exponential increase of things being released...

I agree. Visa and MasterCard take 2-3%.

But
@TimSweeneyEpic , the UE4 marketplace takes 30% of developers profits! -
Pretty much, and as I mentioned in another tweet, we are then subjected to taxes and operational costs that ultimately leave us with 50% of that sale at best, but in most cases less. The lack of proper marketplace features makes it worse.

Don’t forget mobile developers have spent another 10-15% of their income buying app install ads in the first place... from Facebook and Google.

Only 10-15%? What's the secret?!? :)

Why not publish external games on an epic platform?

Are there any game storefronts that charge less than 30% off the top? I haven't found any, they seem to all have decided upon 30% as "the price", and that's just the way it is. Every new one that comes along lately seems to have Steam's price without few of Steam's benefits.

http://itch.io is set your own price with a minimum to cover transaction costs. Which is why I use them.https://secretlairgames.itch.io/
