Computer Science is a totally valid thing. But almost none of us do it on a daily basis. We're coders and engineers, not scientists.

I think the name is pretty good. Maybe "computation science" would be better (emphasis on the process, not the device).

that’s why in German it’s Informatik. Has a bunch of suitable etymology in it: Information, Form and a hint of Mathematics.

Although it can be argued it is equal part art and science. Like math or statistics. Reminds me of something Adolfe Quetelet said (BMI, population growth, logistic regression): it doesn't matter if the field is art, science, or scientific art, results count (paraphrasing)

Ha, yeah I have been thinking the same thing. In Danish it is "Datalogi", i.e. the science of data.

Hey, for that “Data Science” is already in universal use (unfortunately a misnomer, as all science by definition deals with data).
