Installing Linux is sort of the equivalent of moving to Canada when one doesn’t like US political trends. Nope, we’ve got to fight for the freedoms we have today, where we have them today.

As the CEO of Epic Games, you have the capability to help improve Linux with your games, giving Microsoft more incentive to keep their platform open. It's a shame you decide not to :(

They have one game right now that is massively popular, but it’s a game as a service with constant updates that maintains parity across multiple platforms, they can’t stall those for obscure Linux bugs. So what is the solution?

Linux has more quirks than the other platforms with 1% of the users. If it was a boxed single player game I’d be all for squashing the bugs and shipping. But look at ARMA and Linux. How often do Linux builds fall out of sync with the Windows version?

Every single platform has their own set of quirks, bugs and issues. ARMA is a completely different story. It's ported by a *third-party* once the Windows version is done each time.

Ok so what is the solution you have in mind? How many people do you want Epic to hire for full-time Linux development? Is there even a benefit for them to do it? I like Linux, I wished all of my software ran on Linux, but there’s a point where it’s just not worth it.

@AndreElijah Bringing Fortnite to Linux might improve performance and stability on other platforms (like valve did with L4D2: http://blogs.valvesoftware.com/linux/faster-zombies/ …) You can contact one of these companies @feralgames @AspyrMedia @Runesoft @icculus @TTimo (source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Linux_game_porters …)

The challenge with Linux isn’t so much making it work, but making it work for every new release every week in a synchronized simultaneous release across PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox.

No one "got mad" Andre so far as I can see. Tim: Once you get Linux into your production pipelines though, wouldn't it just be a matter of keeping it up to date in the same way as you do for all other platforms? I mean, it's the same argument for any platform?

that's something that needs to be recognized by the Linux advocacy community. Also that's the point of funding a viable alternative. Target CentOS or an LTS Debian for example and this is not a problem. Explicitly do not support things like Arch etc.

Unless the game is programmed to quit if run on Arch, people will be attempting to run it on Arch, no matter how many times you will tell them not to. And they will be reporting bugs specific to Arch.

This tweet was written before iOS support (and I assume Android is coming soon)... there's no reason Linux shouldn't be on the radar as well. At least supporting the most popular Linux distro (Ubuntu) while officially telling the others it's "best-effort" and not supported.
