I’d love to see an open social network with no central moderation, but the ability to create and share hierarchies of karma, post tagging, blacklists, and whitelists with full transparency. Let users choose which filter bubbles, if any, they want to reside in.

How to prevent content that should not be shared on it under most circumstances? (CP, Revenge Porn)

Advocacy groups could publish blocklists of account and content hashes, as e.g. NCMEC shares privately with social networks. MPAA could have an anti-piracy blacklist, etc, to shield users from unintended consumption. And law enforcement for intentional publication.

Consumption is only one side of the subject. One needs a way to prevent or halt distribution. See: ‘the fappening’. Otherwise we are asking consumers to opt out of something that does not harm them.

Bad things will still happen and this is no substitute for law enforcement. But I would be much more inclined to trust and rely on the transparent curation of many independent groups each with a well-defined purpose, and many non-profit, than to trust one giant corporation.

I share your beliefs on this subject. However, it seems paramount that there be a mechanism to remedy situations where an individual or groups rights are being trampled that does not rely on group consensus. After all the majority may not care for your privacy.

The ultimate recourse is law enforcement proceedings against publishers or redistributors of content.

I feel like you guys are just describing the Internet, as a social network. Regardless of the rest of it's capabilities.
