i gave Scopes such a system; the language is written in the interchange format itself. It is possible to write a lossless implementation that reconstructs the data on write the same way it was put in the tree.

JSON is incredibly useful but also not at all lossless. Class/prototype inheritance isn’t captured just flattened, and type info is lost (e.g. Date objects don’t round trip w/o extra deserialization code).
