I’m not using STL because I’m prototyping an immutable container library and supporting infrastructure, intended to scale to 10’s of cores in a way that would be profoundly messy using mutable STL containers.

Shouldn't static analysis, e.g. core guideline checkers, flag this weird pointer arithmetic? And sanitizers surely will flag the failure to store the return value of new in a variable, don't they?
