What GPU? Also, don't most of the tools have problems at that scaling factor? Games can't run at more than 15 fps tho.

Also, the only monitor worth 8K is 31.5", not 34" - Dell UP3218K.

Just one screen. Mostly it’s open to Visual Studio with 65% of the screen for code side-by-side horizontally with other windows. I use it just as I used my old 32” 2560x1600 monitor, except the text is perfectly smooth.

I’ve been using 5k 27” for almost a year and there is no going back. Some pixel visibility if you get really close. Too bad they aren’t sold (new) anymore besides iMac. $1k was a steal. Recall spending $600 for a 15” in the 90s.

I wrote Unreal Engine 1 on a $2500 24” Sony Trinitron CRT that weighted over a hundred pounds!

What do you think is generally more important for games? Higher frame rates or higher resolutions?
-
Game playing: frame rate until you reach 120fps, then you’re done. Programming: resolution is all-important, as it reduces eye strain and enables fitting more code on screen.

Hello, have you ever tried to use two GPUs in SLI for 8K gaming? I use the same monitor but I’m locked/capped at 50 FPS (I’m suspecting is a software or DisplayPort limitation).
-
Haven’t tried SLI. I use a single GeForce 1080 GTX with two DisplayPort cables, which run it at 60 Hz.

I understand that it *does* do scaling, however in multi monitor setups where 2 or more monitors have varying resolutions I’ve found it struggles when moving elements across the 2, or when secondary windows open on another monitor. Particularly with
@UnrealEngine funnily enough. -
Windows 10 DPI scaling has been perfect for 8K so far. Though it requires dual DisplayPort connectors, the NVIDIA 1080 drivers treat it as a single monitor, so I've not seen it suffer from any of the problems of actual multimonitor setups.
