This is a flagrantly sensationalized description of the situation. Google published a UWP app that opened Chrome’s download page in a web view. How is that a valuable application in any way? If it wasn’t Google Chrome, people would applaud Microsoft for rejecting trash apps.

In fact, you could already read the rewiews the app got in the first hours. everybody complained about it not being the browser itself

It’s Microsoft’s fault that users were complaining about Chrome Installer not being Chrome. Microsoft bans actual competing web browsers like Chrone from the Windows Store! Microsoft’s policy is to only allow “web browsers” that are re-skins of the Edge browser.

Not saying you are wrong about the issue (well you are anyway because you always point your finger at MS) but google has done this for ages

where has Google done this for ages? Afaik Firefox and Edge on Android are both allowed to use their own rendering engines when being published through the Play Store

You probably never had a windows phone in its golden ages. No yoututbe app, no google apps, nothing. Google blocked everything they could

maybe. i think since it wasn't google's store they didn't rly "block" it, but probably thought it's not worth the effort (maintaining) bc with bigger marketshare of WP they'd probably have had to go for it. dunno, i'm just guessing here.

You don't know that clearly. MS made his own YT app for WP users, instead of google, and google blocked it by filtering connections remotely

Google does lots of bad stuff, but Microsoft needs to decide whether it will operate the store on the basis of sound principles, or power and petty whims. Demanding competing browsers be built on Edge and banning Chrome Installer all demonstrate petty whims.

Banning the installer was based on sound principals though. It was a freaking installer and those are not allowed according to policies.

Microsoft demanding that competing web browsers be built using Edge is completely crazy. Who’s responsible for that policy? Ultimately, Microsoft needs to decide if the store should represent everything that is great about Windows, or be a dump bin for its failed initiatives.

Why haven't I ever seen a complaint from you about Apple then? Or Google when they are using those kind of policies? You are only particular aggressive to Microsoft while many have those kind of policies
