Modern? The graphics were obsolete already in 1991 when it was released.

Well, by modern I mean a version that will run on modern Windows, Linux and Mac machines, true to the original gameplay/feel/mechanics, but with proper 2D pixely graphics, sound effects, maybe even fun silliness like a proper lighting/shadow system.

I'd like to also fully implement the old map editor, scripting language, and throw in some of the extensions/mods the fanbase has made over the decades naively into the editor. Would be a fun project all around. But of course, IP/copyright issues. :)

You have my and Epic’s permission to build a game using any elements from ZZT that you want except for the name.

Wonderful news! Thank you. Now I'll just have to come up with a new name for your beloved game while I prototype.
Would the name "UZZT" be acceptable?2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
