Is this a common language for C++ proposals? "Horrible, terrible, terrifying, disgusted", you'd think this is describing Lexur'iga-serr'roth and not main(). http://open-std.org/JTC1/SC22/WG21/docs/papers/2017/p0781r0.html …

Modern C++ proposals are generally indistinguishable from satire.

So, these new proposals infect user code with a mandatory library? And it’s named “std”?

You would not want to use Haskell without the prelude either? Having the standard is improving the situation and I feel it is better than throwing in more and more keywords. But yes, the implementation of that standard is indeed sometimes lacking a bit.

In Haskell, it’s nice to import just the core stuff you need, versus std being a giant strcat of bizarre committee opinions.

The feedback loop between STL and language core is really destructive. A single library should not drive the development of the language.

I feel the standard library is part of the language and it's becoming more relevant. I appreciate this, as it is better than the alternatives. Everyone having their own is not really scaleable either. Are you not sick of having to bridge between 6 different math libraries?

I don't think a single library can be all things to all people and the STL really doesn't work for the majority of code I write. But more importantly, I'm not writing an STL.

Why just for performance or memory reasons? There is a perfectly suited alternative that is battle proven for games but implements the standard interface: https://github.com/electronicarts/EASTL …
