Is this a common language for C++ proposals? "Horrible, terrible, terrifying, disgusted", you'd think this is describing Lexur'iga-serr'roth and not main(). http://open-std.org/JTC1/SC22/WG21/docs/papers/2017/p0781r0.html …

You would not want to use Haskell without the prelude either? Having the standard is improving the situation and I feel it is better than throwing in more and more keywords. But yes, the implementation of that standard is indeed sometimes lacking a bit.

In Haskell, it’s nice to import just the core stuff you need, versus std being a giant strcat of bizarre committee opinions.

Imagine parsing command-line options without random access on the array.. the whole thing really sound like satire indeed. Dangerous well-intending people..

why does std::initializer_list not have random access?! that's inconvenient..

Did you *read* the paper? Nowhere near it suggests to make the syntax mandatory. Also... your point is so invalid that I don't even want to start. C++ = core language + the standard library. This isn't "infecting" anything; it's a part of the language, deal with it.

And all this ignores the fact the proposal died in the commitee ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
