we've had that in Frostbite ("-stomp") and it's a life saver! wish there was more efficient ways of implementing it

We've always talked about this, but is there a way to actually enable it? Even if it's slow, if it finds your scribble it's worth it.

Just run gflags.exe (from Debugging Tools for Windows) with your exe name. gflags = 1 alloc per page, separated with non-readable pages.

Two runs: First allocates at front of page, second allocates at end. Every stomp should cause page fault in one of them.

If the Hardware would give us *infinite* memory breakpoints one could just add a breakpoint before and after the allocation. :-)

Log all allocs/frees, snapshot RAM, build conservative alloc graph, scan all blocks for pointers to freed blocks to find danglers (Halo Wars)
