CES showed that PC is coming back in a big way thanks to Windows 10 and cool hardware. Dell's XPS 15 and 8K monitor are game-changing.

Sigh. I'm already having to do take special manual steps to not shade at 4K on my home computer's monitors.

Sometimes want screen res primitive coverage but lower res shading. MSAA with programmable samples can do it.

(You need an ordered sample pattern rather than the usual jittered sample pattern, or things will be weird!)

But more generally, you definitely want rate decoupling more and more as you crank up the screen resolution.

Speculating here, but foveated rendering might be an option for future monitors!
