Nice! Now, why "let x 5" instead of "x=5"? Clearly you support infix operators with precedence, so can they be macros?
you mean like this? (all infix operators are indeed macros with rules for precedence and associativity)pic.twitter.com/72kdgqyEi3
Interesting! I'm interested in fully close the gap on LISP capabilities with C/Python family syntax.
C identifiers, f(a,b) function applications, no special meaning to operator spacing.
ah, not doing that one. i coded a year without it and don't see the value anymore. instead, big price paid for familiarity.
consider repeatedly nested function applications - unreadable in C, so people write way too many temp initializers.
operators need to be known at token level, that means code has to be able to extend the parser before file is through --
but i decided against that because i wanted parsing rules to be as simple as possible. the parser only has 100 lines.
and i very much enjoy a life without commas so far.
The problem with LISP syntax is that it abandons mathematical precedent for functions, prefix, postfix, and infix operators.
it introduces its own which also has its charm, i think. I imported arithmetic infix, but am trying to keep it compact.
