I believe that the future's billion-user AR/VR devices will be evolutionary descendants of today's PC VR, not today's mobile VR or AR.

Well... both to some extent. Especially the hardware side.

I think the model HoloLens is going (self-contained, wireless, full PC OS, can stream games from Xbox, etc) will evolve.

I'd buy iOS evolved from Mac OSX, but surely the iPhone evolved from the iPod, not from shrinking a Mac.
