It would be interesting to bridge the gap between language-level async features and the async execution of out-of-order CPUs.

It would require extremely short living parallelism language primitives, do you think it can help to expose it?

I think many async multicore operations would complete faster than uncached main memory reads, making autothreading practical.

So microscale yes, but what if at macroscale you want a task oriented architecture that finishes in 10ms and not hog cores

Yes! I think this could be automated based on timing: tasks start on-core but later flush to main memory futures, like caches.

Hmm like drive the task/threading system straight from the cache manager based on distance-to-memory?

I mean in a way GPU's 'suspend' their warps when they wait for a texture read, so something similar?

Exactly. Just like a software work queue for resolving futures, but in hardware leveraging OOO for things that resolve quickly.

Right maybe make a 'future' some kind of magical memory marker that can be passed around like a value

          Like a hardware supported 'promise'
