Open + secure is achievable. It's open + secure + decades of backwards compatibility that's over-constrained.

More specifically, UWP is completely capable of being open and secure. Closing it is not necessary for security.

If they obstruct open installation of third-party apps and stores, yes. But that's independent of UWP's tech.

The UE4 license explicitly allows this integration, and Epic stands by it. I still have all the UWP concerns previously stated.

I didn't see HoloLens code in there. But it's open source, so any developer with UE4 access is free to write it!
