Looks like /r/windows10 hates Windows 10. It's a shame. Great OS, ruined by horrible anti-consumer ethic.https://www.reddit.com/r/windows10

Huge investments in DX, common app and game platform (bringing XB games to PC), lots of work on UWP gaming...

DirectX 12 is awesome. Gaming push is great except for UWP, whose motives are untrustworthy without clear openness commitment.

UWP just means portable across OneCoreUAP devices. Xbox, PC, HoloLens, etc.

UWP is a great idea, except it sure looks like a trap to lock consumer Windows PC commerce to the Windows Store.

It's not locked to the store. The store is really important to the ecosystem but non-store on regular PCs isn't going away.

Agreed that phones and Xboxes don't carry PC obligations, as Microsoft doesn't have dominant marketshare.

Very hard to get more restrictive on an existing platform. Easier to start stricter on new ones and relax as needed.
