Programming languages would benefit from <..> for strings, and the prefix < is unambiguous. Why not even <expr:text> for markup?

0u123ABC for unicode hex literals, <0u123ABC> for Unicode string injection. <blah {a+b} blah> for string interpolation.

See SGML. That syntax is actually quite old, although still used in some products.
