@TimSweeneyEpic well played, I'm interested in #UE5 and I never expected that, being a heavy Unity developer all these years. Outstanding work.

I think that's a bit of a game changer and makes me highly interested in it for future work as well :)

UE5 team will, hopefully, work on mobile pipeline too. Advanced feature stripping for size & mobile build process opt. would really come in handy.

They have consistently showed they won't. They will address mobile last and Android and VR with second rate support. The only platforms they really care about is PC and console. UE5 for mobile and VR is a definite no.

This is not my experience. I have a decade in programming on mobile hardware including low level on Vita. I can assure you my tests with Quest with
@UnrealEngine have only been positive. You have the control, so don't expect it to auto-setup. Unity doesn't have working Vulkan/FFR2 replies 0 retweets 3 likes -

Developing AR on mobile lately, there was some to be desired when it comes to AR Core, for example...

Google is using Unity for Stadia and seems to favour Unity in their other kits. Not surprising after Tim decided he wanted to circumvent the Playstore. Strategic blunders like this have marred UE for years. No Android/VR/AR pro dev considers UE a viable platform.

Your argument is that Epic is in the wrong because Google retaliated against us for not using their store where they take a 30% cut?

No. Come on Tim this is digging the hole deeper. I am asking you to make Android and hence VR a first class platform on UE. Surely your commercial teams are feeding this back to you. You're not cross platform if you are fighting a holy war against Android/VR

We wholeheartedly support Android and iOS in Unreal Engine and in Fortnite and we wholeheartedly disagree with Google and Apple taking 30% of developers’ revenue. These are separate issues.

Not talking about iOS Tim let's get focused. And let's not forget mobile VR which also runs on Android. I told you this 2 years ago. I'm asking you again now to improve support to the point that its competitive with Unity.

It you don't want to fine but don't be surprised when evaluations constantly reject the platform for sub par performance on Android and in VR.
