as a dev myself I don't understand why you don't have linux builds for prototyping without windows weirdness in the first place. it's also cheap to not outright support it but fix issues with dxvk/proton that the community can't fix without your assistance.

especially in the case of fortnite where it isn't like kernel anti-cheats do anything in the first place. server side detection is the only thing that is reliable anyway, and i have had zero issues with Overwatch's anti-cheat system running just fine in Proton

It wasn't a problem before, when Epic were smaller and significantly less affluent. Why is it suddenly a problem now? From an end-user POV, it reeks of "we just don't want to." Those old native versions of UT ('99 - 2004) still work under Linux without any "support" from Epic.
