It's just meant to be a comparison. Basically, Epic isn't in a condition to realistically compete with Steam, but by denying Steam the ability to actually compete for a games sales they're basically cheating the race.

Valve has tons of money. If they wanted to bid for ac and any other game they could have. There’s no cheating if it’s a fair transaction

Exactly. Or pay a fairer revenue share instead of taking 30%. That’s why all of the big publishers have left.

Yeah, no. The big publishers haven't left Steam, they're using Epic to get a little extra money with the intent on Steam sales later on making up for lost revenue. If anything, Ubisoft is using everyone's hatred for Epic to get them to flock to Uplay instead.

Tell me Tim, apart from exclusives, what does Epic offer that the average consumer couldn't get from companies like Steam, GOG, or Humble Bundle?

Free games, Epic funded discounts during sales, and Fortnite!

People can get their free and cheap games off Steam, whether the storefront funds the discounts or not doesn't matter to the average consumer. Once again, they get the same deals from a better storefront.

I get that unique features aren't easy to come up with, but if Epic had simply come out in a more complete state I don't think people would get so upset over exclusives, but due to the stores initial state it's brought in too much bad blood.

Lacking user reviews, general forums, a shopping cart, wish listing. It all adds up to a poor first foot forward that chased people away. We don't want to dislike the EGS, but because of past actions it's hard to see it as anything other than a nuisance.

There's no way that you haven't seen this image floating around, especially at the height of the Tencent spyware situation, but this is all stuff that matters to people and to just ignore it in favor of exclusives, well that's just not the way to get our business.pic.twitter.com/zIWWvuyww9

The list was from when that theory about EGS being spyware was at its peak, the main point I'm trying to make is that as it is Epic just doesn't hold much of a candle to Steam except for the exclusivity that people hate.

The regular free games is a good start, however forcing people to use the store through exclusivity counteracts any consumer good will that may have gotten you.
