Apple can't go on like this. Their bans on competing apps and competing payment services on iOS is breaking the evolutionary cycle of technology and even economics:https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-25/google-stadia-nvidia-geforce-microsoft-xcloud-not-on-apple-ios …

iOS isnt a caste system — if consumers perceived a problem they would switch to Android. I think its unfair to begrudge Apple this platform protection when it faces incredibly fierce competition from Android (cant be a monopoly if you have <50% market share)
-
I don’t know of anyone switching platforms because of 1 app... It’s the ecosystem that one chooses.
@Apple needs to provide life to its ecosystem by offering its users options!

It's starting to feel more and more that in five years the App Store will have a fraction of the overall % audience distribution that it has today. It will still be an important, premium platform to publish on, but it won't be the dominant player it has been for the last decade.

I remember hearing that around 2014 as well

Also, from what I have seen, Apple users pay magnitudes more then android users. That’s money devs rely on.

How do you propose forcing them to do open their ecosystem up? They obviously aren't going to do it on their own.

By making apps/games that are so necessary/useful/fun/revolutionary, and NOT publishing them on iOS, so everyone's next phone purchase is NOT an iphone.
-
The development of apps on Android really sucks. That's why the best apps are on iOS.
