Tell me this magic trick to have exactly the same financial freedom to take on projects with less money. I prefer competition too. Sell a game on both and let the best storefront win. Oh wait. EGS don't like that. See, they're not competing. They're subverting competition.

Why should a game developer be required to put their game on Steam and get soaked 30% to accommodate YOUR preferences? If you develop a game feel free to sell on both. Don't tell studios how to run their business. God forbid an indie studio gets to keep more of their revenue!

I get it, you prefer Steam. Cool. I do too. No ones forcing you to use EGS, yet you're screeching that developers aren't catering to YOUR preferences. Sounds like a man baby to me.

They made the game/product, they can sell it on any platform for any price they want. Don't like it? Don't buy it. I like how you used 'force' in all caps, despite using it incorrectly. You don't have to play any exclusive games on EGS. No one is 'forcing' you to.

He's referring to the fact you don't get a choice If you wanna play a game you're required to use an inferior platform. If not it's 1 year waiting for you (which seems to be doing better than epic's releases looking at Hades)

This exactly. My force in all caps was mocking you. Obviously you dont have to play a game at release, but they arent targeting highly anticipated and top wishlisted games from Steam for no reason. They are targeting peoples FOMO to FoRcE you to use a shitty inferior launcher.

Do you get super upset and rage at Netflix when they license a tv show and make it available exclusively on their platform? Or Amazon? Or Crunchyroll? Just curious if this frustration only applies to Epic Games. It's almost like this is how you build a platform business.

Just to point out Tim Sweeney liked this tweet, as if to imply that there's a double standard going on even though multiple responses make it clear there isn't. That's disgustingly manipulative if you ask me.

Omar is right, exclusives are fine and a normal way to build an audience around a new store or distribution platform. And disliking exclusives is fine too. Your preference for building your game library won’t always align with developer and publisher decisions about distribution.

They arent but in this case sniping projects on steam because of steams greater reach. Steam should have bitch slapped a lawsuit on the offending company but thats a poor way of handling sweeney. In truth its just proven steam as the better platform. EGS will only linger.

Disgraceful. Exclusives are hideously immoral, especially when they're made with the knowledge that they will harm and upset the very people who caused the game going exclusive to EXIST. Will you ever apologise to Shenmue III backers for what you did to us?! It was NOT "fine".

The funny part was the mail that said that we could maybe have Steam keys later (if we decide to wait) but not 100% sure. It's what make me ask for a refund and I backed it on the first kickstarter... So it was long ago already.

Yeah, it's their choice to publish on one store, especially after someone offers huge ammounts of money for privating other stores to sell the same product. People is only right when they agree with you? just to know.

So why do they have to exclusively stay in the console world, but people are okay with exclusives on Amazon Video, Hulu, Netflix et. al.? Or how about buying records from a specific label? Or books from a specific publisher? Epic is barely any different in that light.

It must be pretty easy to be patient when you skim a couple of tweets and reply to them in isolation, offending gamers you spent a lot of money harming and probably not even realising it or caring. The fact I haven't sworn or called anyone names must qualify me as well.
