Anger has subsided because Epic has paused it's publisher bribery campaign. If @TimSweeneyEpic wanted platforms working together, he'd use his immense wealth to back @GOGGalaxy instead the @EpicGames Store. Put his money where his mouth is. But he isn't and that speaks volumes.https://twitter.com/pcgamer/status/1231028348215844865 …

You do realize that no matter what Tim does, you'll always have individual platforms that will not and cannot be merged or integrated with one another? The only thing Epic is doing with their "bribes" is offering devs a better deal and growing a service to address the status quo.

I say "bribes" because Epic made back-room deals with major publishers to prevent competitors (distributors) from gaining access to products (games). It's a frequently used corporate tactic used to dominate markets and torpedo competition. Ask Amazon and, before them, Walmart.

Epic’s exclusivity partnerships are announced publically at major consumer and industry events, promoted through video trailers, and detailed in press releases. Hardly “back room dealing”.

They are announced publicly *after they are signed*. Like all back room deals. Or are you saying publishers did an RFP and you won the bids fairly?

You also haven't ever released the monetary value of these deals or the specifics of the contracts. Sounds pretty back room to me.

As some (but not all) other platforms do, we've shared our revenue-sharing terms (88%/12%) and said they apply equally to everyone. Publicly announcing all terms of all deals is not a thing. You're holding Epic to a standard that no other platforms have ever been held to.

Actually, you held yourself to standards that don't apply to others when you claim the moral high ground against Valve and GOG. You want to claim your better than them? Prove it and stop the corporate politics. Be transparent with consumers. For once. We both know you won't. 🥱

There's a term IT term some of us use... "Customers don't want to see how sausage is made." It's not because they don't care; It's because most people would be traumatised and never eat sausage again if they saw the entire bloody process. And that's the ultimate point here.pic.twitter.com/zr558KoYC2

Yeah, I wonder if @Mortiel also criticise the back room deals made between valve, ea, microsoft, bethesda, and call it bribe. Though I really doubt it as steam fanboys tends to use double standard to judge epic.

I cannot recall Valve/Steam or Apple being the first to announce the revenue split until it was leaked by devs. I also doubt any platform has posted detailed contracts with every dev they have signed. So yeah some standards Epic is being held to.

Didn't 'Epic' deny permission for an indie game to release on their platform when the dev turned down an exclusivity bribe? Could be a false but it certainly seems to fit the way 'Epic' acts.

What other PC platforms have made exclusivity deals? There's nobody else that NEEDS to be held to that standard! The reason EGS stands out is because it's the only one doing this in the first place!
