Anger has subsided because Epic has paused it's publisher bribery campaign. If @TimSweeneyEpic wanted platforms working together, he'd use his immense wealth to back @GOGGalaxy instead the @EpicGames Store. Put his money where his mouth is. But he isn't and that speaks volumes.https://twitter.com/pcgamer/status/1231028348215844865 …

1.) Why do people care so much if PC is a unified platform? We have Steam, Battlenet, Origin, Epic, GOG, Itch, and dozens of others. And it works just fine. Don't want to install certain ones? Then don't!

2.) If bribery implies something illegal or dishonest - how are/were EGS exclusivity deals bribery? It seems to me they offered honest deals to devs who made a choice of their own free will to go with EGS - and both sides benefited from those arrangements. Where's the issue?

A bribe is not required to be an illegal act. Epic made a few deals to devs. Most of the money was spent on *publishers*, to which I clearly was referring in the statement "publisher bribery campaign". An "honest deal" to me isn't one where you pay to block access to content.pic.twitter.com/QweP20ocCH

I know it's not required to be illegal - that's why I said "if". I originally wrote "devs/publishers" but ran out of characters. If a pub goes against dev wishes that's a sep issue. Point still stands. Who's blocking access to what content? When/where did this happen?

An exclusivity deal is Company A paying Company B to block products from Company A's competitors. Example: Epic pays Koch Media to pull Metro Exodus pre-launch from Steam, thus blocking Steam from being able to sell the game. Those wanting the game must buy from Epic.

The people with the publishing rights for Metro Exodus decided they wanted to sell on EGS and not Steam. If Steam wanted to sell the game they could have made a better offer. What is noteworthy about this?

When you say, "[Steam] could have made a better offer", you make it sound like this was an RFP. It was not. Epic signed Koch to the deal without Valve being aware. Regardless, I said I don't find paying to block access being an honest tactic. I haven't heard you counter that.

What’s your source on the claim that this Epic Games Store partner didn’t negotiate with third parties before concluding that Epic’s exclusive proposal was the best offer? Speculation? At all times during those discussions, they were free to negotiate with competitors.

"We were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know." - Valve, talking about Metro Exodus exclusivity. Seriously, Tim.

"recently informed of *the decision* " could be: they had discussed it previously but only now found out the decision. It doesn't mean they were in the dark the whole time. I highly doubt Koch wouldn't have asked Valve "can you match EGS's offer"? That's just smart business.
