Anger has subsided because Epic has paused it's publisher bribery campaign. If @TimSweeneyEpic wanted platforms working together, he'd use his immense wealth to back @GOGGalaxy instead the @EpicGames Store. Put his money where his mouth is. But he isn't and that speaks volumes.https://twitter.com/pcgamer/status/1231028348215844865 …

To make things clear: Tim can talk about wanting cross-play and interoperability all day. In the end, it's all to make up for the lackluster EGS. Fact is that @GOGcom is the only company genuinely working to bring platforms together, and Epic's exclusivity actively hurts GOG.

Which is admirable. However, that has absolutely nothing to do with platforms. EGS has actively sought to divide PC platforms instead of bring them together and divided consumers. It's what one might consider a "consumer adversarial" strategy. Publishers have been happy, though!

Cross-platform play has nothing to do with platforms? Epic's online service (friends, etc) are open to all platforms and stores, as demonstrated by Dauntless on PC, Xbox, and PS4. Compare to Steam social features which are locked down to only PC games launched by Steam.

The rest says: "...he'd use his immense wealth to back @GOGGalaxy instead the @EpicGames Store. Put his money where his mouth is." Yet we are talking about Fortnite instead of Epic using exclusivity in an attempt to put GOG out of business. Doesn't sound very cooperative.

It would be illogical to expect you to back a competitor financially. However, not blocking products from your competitors (exclusivity) would be a great way for Epic to compete on it's own merits. In the end, Epic, GOG, devs, and consumers all win. Steam too, if they step up.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We pursue exclusives because it’s the best chance for changing the industry’s 30% fee status quo. If we stopped with exclusives, 99% of the benefit would be expected accrue to Steam and 1% to GOG, because Steam is around 100x bigger than GOG.

In short, go back to how things were. In the name of progress. Y'know, feudalism is a far superior platform, and it was worth the extra expense. Can't remember whether it had user reviews though :/

Yup, create a Straw Man argument because you don't have an actual counter for my point. Funny you should mention feudalism, though, because that's pretty much what Epic's Store curation looks like. Only the chosen few, mostly the already-privileged publishers, get real estate.

What? In what way did steam killed PC gaming? IMO if it was not for steam success, developers would have jumped to consoles years ago, I still remember when they all called PC players pirates, it was steam that brought back PC gaming.
