And I believe companies should state their principles clearly, so that the public can check their actions against principles when a controversy arises. Companies acting without principle are far more open to manipulation by outside forces, and to mistrust due to the perception.

and iirc not engaging in politics is also a form of politics - if there is no desire to dampen any political sentiment, this strategy can end up as an amplification of _all_ political sentiments.

There is unfortunately no ground truth when it comes to political opinions IMHO (even though in our minds we all think we have the 'right' opinions). Accept one and you alienate the other half. Censorship only feels 'right' when you are shutting down opinions you disagree with.

except along many trenches, there are no halves here. there's a moderate but quiet majority and a quite vocal and frankly batshit insane minority. i don't find it difficult to pick a side.
