Here’s one of the key views I shared at DICE. If a game tackles politics, as To Kill a Mockingbird did as a novel, it should come from the heart of creatives and not from marketing departments seeking to capitalize on division.https://twitter.com/LawofTD/status/1227690382189678592 …

What gives you the impression that this was a real problem that exists in the world, such that it would be worth warning against?

And what's wrong with not wanting to eat at chik fil a? They've funded people who take rights away from people like me. If I'm going to buy a chicken sandwich why not do it from someone who *doesn't* hate me?

I support your right to do business with whichever companies you choose, based on the positions they take. I just don’t feel it’s appropriate for one person, like a company CEO, to draw their company and its employees into their personal politics outside of the company’s mission.

I guess it is very difficult to me to understand how politics are clearly separate from "the company's mission" if the company is a game company, since games are a form of commercial art.

Judging from the internet, a lot of people consider the presence of LGBT people, or nonwhite people, in a game to be inherently political. Do you think that a company should take specific positions on the inclusion of LGBT or nonwhite people (for example, "it's a good thing")?

That a company has a mission like "make great games and tech" doesn't then mean those are the company's only responsibilities. Things like "don't support racism" are necessary positions for any responsible business. Otherwise it hurts itself, its workers, its customers, the world

There is never an apolitical position to take - if you examine any time you think that there is, you're going to find that what you're actually looking at is just "trying not to think about politics". You don't help anyone, or keep anyone free-er to express themselves, doing that

I attended your talk and thought it was great. Have to agree with others here on this one point, that being apolitical is itself a stance. An example from your talk: Your stance on monopolies being bad, is itself a political stance. (Tim Wu's latest book on this is great, btw).

to be clear, I'm in agreement and in favor of open platforms - I just recognize that there's a long history of arguments in favor of monopoly, many of which are valid. It's not a B&W issue.

So basic human rights are politics? That kind of thing can't just be a core tenant of a company in general. Do companies stand for nothing? Support nothing? Uphold nothing?

Hey Tim one last thing, real quick: have you let your employees go home after a regular 40-60hr workweek lately? Or are they burning the 80-100hr midnight oil for the 70th week in a row? Sorry, don’t mean to get political.
