And when a company operates an ecosystem where users and creators can express themselves, they should should be a neutral moderator. Else the potential for undue influence from within or without is far too high.

What gives you the impression that this was a real problem that exists in the world, such that it would be worth warning against?

Primarily I’m concerned about undue corporate influence unconstrained by stated principles and values, particularly when companies operate ecosystems where gamers and creators express their views, and the resulting divisions. See for example: https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1181933071760789504?s=20 …https://twitter.com/TimSweeneyEpic/status/1181933071760789504 …

You probably should elaborate on these remarks because this certainly seems like a "lets please be neutral gaming corporations" because we don't want to address that we're appeasing horrible human-rights violating countries that silence opposition (Like Activision Blizzard did).
-
The intention is the opposite. If companies take the principled stance that they don’t interfere with the speech of users in their ecosystem, or have very clearly established and adjudicated rules, then they immunize themselves against such influences.

Give a single example of a game distributed by a major publisher which courted political division by its marketing.
-
I think the opposite is more of the problem where games are playing it too safe with politics and at best, will only preach the safest of views.
