I’d love to see an analysis of the rate of new PC game ownership in 2019 vs 2018. I expect it’s way up due to Epic Games Store. Gamers who redeemed all free 2019 games received more than $1000 in value, while Epic paid participating devs for the giveaways.https://twitter.com/MatPiscatella/status/1220476709742317568 …

Tim, didn’t you hear? You’re literally the devil, China runs your company, and you’ve single handedly destroyed all competition and invented the idea of exclusives!

So how does one complete this character development track and become a full Bond villain? Unfortunately the business books don’t cover this topic.

You have introduced (3rd party) exclusivity to a platform that previously didn't have it. You have caused division between devs and gamers. If you really wanted to help the PC platform, you would drop exclusivity and create a store that can actually compete on quality and service

Years and years of third party exclusives on Steam wants to have a word with you.

competition means giving the consumer choice. your platform gives consumers the choice "sometimes".

There is also such things as competing for content through competitive offerings to the dev/pubs. Many dev/pubs chose to be exclusive to Steam due to what Steam offers them, and many chose to be exclusive to Epic due to what Epic offers them.

I would love to see you actually have true renewed PC store competition. Improve your store front and give PC gamers a reason to use it. Being forced to use it because you paid a game not to come to another store front is not competition.
-
Spend that money to create a feature rich store/launcher that gamers want to use. Sell most of the same games, actually dev some games instead of buying them off, sell all new releases at 10 or so dollars off but pay the devs the difference, and mention the better cut.

This issue is not store competition. The issue is exclusively. But I think you knew that.

He knows his store can't compete with Steam - and thus has to do it.
