ms is also trying to gain the trust of pc players. says alot doesnt it. the devs that want to gain trust go to the platform that is no less than 400x better for consumers

But that requires a major jolt to the system, which has calcified with a few dominant stores collecting a 30% tax on everyone’s games.

I agree that the 30% cut doesn't make sense, considering most storefronts either have first party projects or platforms that provide more than enough to keep the profit split lower (EG/Fortnite, Steam/SteamVR and Games, GOG/CDPR Games, etc).
