Fortnite is available direct from Epic where that’s allowed (PC, Mac, Android) and in the platform stores where it’s not. This is just an artifact of the 30% fees though. We’d be on Google Play and Steam if either fees were 12% or less, or we could process payments ourselves.

You are 100% certain that Fortnite is welcome on Steam if they took 12%? This isn't just something you are saying because you are certain it never will happen?

Basically everyone who is willing to pay $100 as initial fee is welcome on Steam. Plus, if the game generates $10mil in revenue Steam's cut drops to 25% and if it generates $50mil it drops to 20%. I don't think Fortnite would get any trouble earning $50 mil on Steam.

Valve should just take 12% and call it a day. It will benefit developers, and it will benefit us. Tim will release his games on Steam, Epic will retreat from exclusives, and Ubisoft will come back. Epic can continue to build their store and compare. Everyone is happy.

I don't think that 12% share is fair for Valve. Have you questioned yourself if the 12% cut would be enough for Valve to maintain and develop their platform as they do now.

I think if you divide the profits of Valve games by the size of their game teams, and the profits from Steam by the size of the Steam team, they would still be doing very well at 12%. Compare to GOG, who services a very robust feature set with a much smaller profit stream.

Assumption without numbers is a dangerous thing. I.E people who assume the EGS is failing because the only exclusive to sell well is BL3. GoG operates at a loss if I remember correctly, at 30%. Though that is anecdotal. Valve has the Dota money and Epic has fortnite to make up

"Think" isn't good enough. Unless you have insider knowledge and actual facts to backup your claims, there is no reason to believe any of what you say - especially since you have every reason in the world to not be honest about Steam.

Gog is less than 30% and they negotiate the fee based on what GOG is doing.
