Till we have automated self-service for developers, we are choosing the highest priority release opportunities. We prioritize exclusives, free game releases, and the most notable indie and triple-A titles. Some games that make sense as exclusives didn’t make sense otherwise.

How so? It’s certainly benefitting all of the developers and publishers whose games we’ve distributed so far. When we open up more widely, the 88%/12%revenue split will benefit even more game creators!

So if offering developers a higher cut is important to you, why not do what steam does? Steam allows developers to generate keys infinitely, that can be sold anywhere, and the developer gets 100% of the profit on that. Literally every cent.

We support this. You’ll find various Epic Games Store games also for sale on Humble, Green Man Gaming, and more coming. Epic doesn’t take a cut of that revenue.

I’ve never heard from a developer or publisher who WANTS keys for their games to be sold anywhere, because of the well known problems of fraudulent key resellers and grey marketers. Keyless sales integration is a much better approach.

To be clear: does this mean eventually third party sellers like Humble Bundle are going to hook into EGS? They sell the game, then it shows up in the buyer’s Epic launcher?

Steam, battle net and uplay and origin all support this too, just seems that most use keys.

Epic and Humble support direct purchase integration right now. If a developer chooses, they can authorize Humble to sell their EGS exclusive game, and all of the proceeds go to the developer and Humble, not Epic. Other reseller integrations are coming soon.

All these sites mentioned still take a cut for themselves so the dev STILL doesn't get 100% of the revenue. Whereas if they can generate the keys and set up buying UIs on their websites with those (some did this) (not trying to nitpick, just my feelings on this)

I did say you supported it in a prior tweet was just mentioning it’s support for other launchers too but the fact it tends to be keys that are used instead in the case of most other launchers despite having the support.

Will you at some point allow indie developers to release their games on Steam and EGS if they don't agree to exclusivity?

That is what the "open the store more widely" is about. Most likely will still see contractual exclusives still being made, but should also see multi-plat and probably non contractual exclusives coming to the store as well.
