How so? It’s certainly benefitting all of the developers and publishers whose games we’ve distributed so far. When we open up more widely, the 88%/12%revenue split will benefit even more game creators!

well, it definitely benefits publishers. but unless devs are self publishing it does not help them in any way. " Some games that make sense as exclusives didn’t make sense otherwise." like tim, please explain what the FUCK this means. Why would you accept a game under an...

..exclusivity deal, but not let them multi-plat it? if a game makes sense on your store as an exclusive it ALSO makes sense as a multiplat as your store is in desperate need of more games and multiplats would truly let you see how you perform up to the competition (not very well)

To grow the platform. Big and noteworthy titles attract people to the platform to establish a user base.

Youre just as good at dodging the question as tim himself is, almost like its his account. WHAT POSSIBLE REASON DOES EPIC HAVE FOR REJECTING DARQ.

I’m not sure or clued into why Epic would’ve rejected Darq nor when that even came up but I highlighted the reason why they’re chasing after exclusives. To build a platform with a strong user base.

yes but what im asking tim is how is it in his interest to even benefit developers when he rejects their game if they dont go exclusive.

Piles of money often have -some- strings attached. It’s still largely beneficial for the developers that decide to go exclusive, especially with the revenue split being highly competitive, especially if the game is powered by Unreal Engine.

still not answering the question though. epic get 12% from everyone who buys darq on epic for the minimal cost of hosting the game on their servers. if epic truly want to benefit developers they will allow any decent developer on their store.

Yes, we will do this when we open up the store broadly. That requires completing a bunch of self-service tools for developers releasing, updating, and managing sales for their games, and scaling up other aspects of the store. Will happen this year.

Yes but once again considering you already offered them a position on your store, why was darq rejected under a multiplat release

The opportunity for a non-exclusive release of Darq was smaller then the opportunity for contemporaneous exclusives and bigger non-exclusives like Jedi Fallen Order. This is all an artifact of the store not yet being opened up widely and will be remedied in time.

This actually sounds promising. My hope is that EGS will stop publishers from only releasing their games on their own launcher, like EA did until recently. The more games I can pick up at one place, the better.
