How so? It’s certainly benefitting all of the developers and publishers whose games we’ve distributed so far. When we open up more widely, the 88%/12%revenue split will benefit even more game creators!

So if offering developers a higher cut is important to you, why not do what steam does? Steam allows developers to generate keys infinitely, that can be sold anywhere, and the developer gets 100% of the profit on that. Literally every cent.

We support this. You’ll find various Epic Games Store games also for sale on Humble, Green Man Gaming, and more coming. Epic doesn’t take a cut of that revenue.

I’ve never heard from a developer or publisher who WANTS keys for their games to be sold anywhere, because of the well known problems of fraudulent key resellers and grey marketers. Keyless sales integration is a much better approach.

Yes, all developers and publishers distributing games in retail and Epic Games Store are free to include EGS keys in their retail boxes, with Epic collecting no fee for those sales.

So you offer keys for retail rn but nothing else? Why? If it’s the developers choice they are responsible for any key fraud that happens. And if keys are on retail they’ll end up on g2a among others anyway as that’s often where a lot of the cheap keys come from

Obviously fraud is a serious issue but it’s the developers choice to sell those keys and offering keylesss and keys is the best of both worlds. With easy access to revoking key batches like steam has.

We’ll be updating all of these terms as the store nears opening up widely. In particular we need to build an automated service for developers producing and tracking keys.
