Epic isn’t exerting some sort of power of compulsion to secure exclusives. Each one is a mutually agreed and mutually beneficial choice made together by Epic and the game’s developer or publisher. We want unique games and they want a better deal than 30%.

If we didn’t pursue exclusives, I feel we’d be failing at our basic mission of changing store economics to benefit developers. There’s a long history of alternative stores that tried for years and never gained more than 1% marketshare.

Because ultimately it’s about the games. An indie store selling the same stuff as a store with 90% market share but with slightly different features doesn’t have a chance.

You getting better at explaining it, I think in 2020 it's gonna be easier for people to accept the truth

It's going to get easier once Tim Sweeney can show me what's in it for ME. As a person who appreciate store features, I'm having a hard time accepting EGS in its current state.

Fair point! It’s come a ways in 2019 and will go a lot further in 2020.

But you can't tell when achievements will arrive? I'm also wondering how they will work. Leveling system?

Achievements are in the works for later in 2020 and will work similar to other platforms, so developers can easily integrate them alongside console and Steam achievements.

We don’t have a plan for a grand metagame spanning multiple games. Here, that sort of thing is controversial as we love to create fun challenges but don’t like compulsion mechanics. What would you like to see?

The thing EGS is missing is a sense of community. When I open Steam I can see what others are doing, which games they like, how much they have played, what games are hot. Profile, achievements, reviews, forums. Otherwise its just a tool for buying games.

We have a lot more of this in Fortnite than the Epic Games store right now. Expect more social features in 2020 as more multiplayer games come online.

Yes that's exactly what I was thinking. Fortnite right now feels more like a platform than EGS. I've good faith in you though!
