We have plenty of experiencing operating these kinds of services for ourselves from 2014-now and for third parties from 2018-now. The all-in cost of operating a digital distribution service is well under 12%.

If we didn’t pursue exclusives, I feel we’d be failing at our basic mission of changing store economics to benefit developers. There’s a long history of alternative stores that tried for years and never gained more than 1% marketshare.

Because ultimately it’s about the games. An indie store selling the same stuff as a store with 90% market share but with slightly different features doesn’t have a chance.

Sure they want a better deal than 30%. I'm not sure if that's the case. Ubisoft have Uplay, and they are able to gain 100%. For Ubisoft to release their games on EGS in its current state therefor doesn't make sense unless you pay them. Same goes for Rockstar.

I can wait for Steam, that's no problem if I have to. But some deals, especially Ubisoft and Telltale, are those even timed? Telltale skipped Steam with Walking Dead final season, and Ubisoft stopped releasing games on Steam. I understand that people get angry over this.
