Given the games I bought, wishlisted, and followed, there is no legitimate reason for Steam to never ever show me Arc Savior, Hypergate, Spacebourne, and Between the Stars. Instead it would show me games nothing like those.

Good games will always take their audience. Only word of mouth is enough. And again Steam and not Epic have all the features to spread users experience through curators, friends wishlists, friends playing games, recomendations, gifts etc.

Yet, Steam has failed time and time and time again of ever showing me any game that I would be interested in. It has been several years since the last time Steam has shown me a game that I actually bought. 8 out of 13 games I bought on Epic, Epic introduced to me.

Developers are paying 30% on Steam for nothing that justifies it, for getting less now than they used to when Steam did curate their store. Now developers are paying 12% on Epic and are getting far more exposure then they would get from Steam.

Lol 30%-20% is not fee for promote game. It's for most complex services on the market for developers/publishers and customers. 12% from Epic is for much worse services from any point of view. And even that bonus like shorterm loan will diassapear with Fortnite money.

Well now it isn't. In the past it used to come with great exposure, personal service from Steam reps. Now they pay 30% for automated and self service, no promotion, while Valves costs have gone down over the years.

You have absolutely no idea about Valve costs. And is not necessary to repeat that fairytale about your imaginations based on "similar working experience".

We have plenty of experiencing operating these kinds of services for ourselves from 2014-now and for third parties from 2018-now. The all-in cost of operating a digital distribution service is well under 12%.

You haven’t created a service which people login to and browse for hours and have discussions on etc. You have a glorified launcher with a shop tacked on. You can’t compare the two. Sure if you were at the scale of steam you may find it’s below 15% or 20% etc.

We fully understand these costs. Server hosting costs aren't huge for stores. Fortnite is vastly more expensive to operate per concurrent user than a store, given the need to perform significant per-user computation at 30 updates per second.

If every daily active Epic Games store user browsed the store for an hour per day, the cost of hosting that would still be a fraction of a %.

So 12% is a rip-off from the devs?
