They are competing to earn it. Giving a better deal than your competitor is competition.

We all know it's not a better deal. Many regions are more expensive, some can't get games he locks behind his walled garden at all. Thanks for playing though. I'd expect nothing less than to find you here crying that people are calling Swiney on his shit.

Many regions are also cheaper, such is the nature of regional pricing in these stores. There are times when Steam is more expensive, or when Epic is more expensive, or GOG is more expensive, and then vice versa all of that.

Right. So to say that it's a better deal is bullshit. Every now and then in some regions it might be cheaper. Awesome. You just have to give up all features and conveniences to get it for maybe $5 cheaper. Maybe. What a deal lol.

Also, by the way, when I was saying Epic was competiting through a better deal, I am talking about them giving a better deal to pub/devs than what Steam was offering. That is literally competition in ever sense of the word. Epic competes by offering a better deal than Steam offer

These are two sides of the same coin. Would you pay Steam $85 for a game that costs $60 elsewhere? No? Then why expect a developer to accept $42 when Steam sells their game for $60?

This is a question only the whole industry can answer through the competitive decisions each company makes. There’s certainly more robust competition in play now than just 18 months ago.

Then why aren't prices down already? Your fee is lower, isn't that all that's needed? Drop 5 USD from any game permanently, and there you go. Actual healthy competition

Guess we have to wait "several cycles" more of game devs making decisions? Or maybe it's just a hollow and unprovable promise like more money=better games.
