Congratulations to EA and Valve for relaunching their old partnership in a new multi-store world, and for supporting full Origin and Steam multiplayer interoperability. The first new EA title to launch on Steam is Jedi: Fallen Order, powered by Unreal Engine 4!https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1189181344334483458 …

Interesting, so is Epic joining this 'new world' soon, will you stop buying exclusives and start competing for consumers via price, features and good service? EA just stated that fragmentation is bad for players, giving them choice where to play is good. What? 88/12? Oh ok, nvm.

Seriously, read what they have to say here https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2019-10-29-ea-returns-to-steam …, it's the complete opposite of what Epic is desperately trying to do. Better adapt. Or don't and get left in the dust.

Epic’s all about connecting platforms and ecosystems, as the article you quoted says about Fortnite. As for stores, exclusivity is a strategy aimed at changing 70/30 store economics for developers and publishers. Do you really think it’s not succeeding?pic.twitter.com/ge6tD9Hl2Z

All we are seeing with shenmue 3 and other kickstsrter projects that made false promises on their projects, with AAA publishers screwing players like Bethesda, 2k,ubisoft,EA,communication disasters like ooblets... All we're seeing is not a single reason to care about their cut.

Microsoft has done a good job recently in terms of cross-platform interoperability and porting console titles to PC, though I still question their reluctance to make State of Decay 2 available anywhere other than the Windows Store, which is only available to Windows 10 users.

Steam doesn't care about the Epic Store because it knows that games in its core like CS:GO, Dota 2, TF2 can outlast any other multiplayer games. Since the Microsoft and EA deals, what's stopped Valve from restricting them from selling their games on other third party store fronts

So... build a better store and let customers flock to you and the developers will follow suit too. Forcing customers into your store via exclusivity deals is just alienating Epic from gamers. At present, your store is a UX nightmare and you seem to have no intention of fixing it.

I would think it is. Exclusivity helps expand Epic's user base which will help more devs feel comfortable releasing exclusively on EGS for the 85/15 split, which will hopefully pressure Steam to further adjust their revenue split lest they miss out on those juicy day one sales.

Nonsense. You are only moneyhatting 3rd party games because there's no other reason for consumers to use your bare bones storefront. And big publishers flocking back to Steam prove it's not changing store economics. Exclusivity is the past, not the future.

If a consumer wants a developer to receive a higher percentage of what they pay for their game, they would in fact have a reason to use EGS.

Is that why Fortnite on PS locked you out crossplay? So tell us, is your commitment a recent development, or was it simply incompetence or greed? Leaders lead by example, exclusivity is not a strategy to connect platforms, it's a strategy to ensure you always have a place in it.
