Good for Zuck for giving a detailed talk on principles and values of Facebook curation. Now everyone’s criticizing the specifics, but that’s the price of saying what you believe in. I respect frankness way more than leaders who hide behind platitudes to avoid criticism.

When a company states its principles, we can debate the merits and drawbacks of those principles, and examine whether their practices follow the principles, each in detail. Otherwise we’re left examining random incidents and divining intent from each in isolation.

i think people were hoping that it takes more for you to respect a person than if they go from "crook" to "openly a crook".
