Without this principle, every controversial statement by an individual will escalate into a geopolitical dispute: one side will be offended and call for the company to punish the individual, and the other side will see that as censorship and be offended.

I think a healthier view is that individuals are solely responsible for their own statements. If a gamer says something offensive, one should judge or criticize that gamer, but should not pressure companies or platforms to punish him.
