“See developers? It’s perfectly normal for a company that had nothing to do with creating your game make more profit from it than you while you bear all the costs. It’s the industry standard!!!”https://twitter.com/IGN/status/1181298434587975680 …

Ontop of that valve does cover currency fluctuations and taxes. The price that's on the screen is the price i pay. Its the price i pay today, tomorrow and in all conceivable future, until the sales kick in.
Steam doesn't cover the taxes, you are still paying for that tax but if you live in a country/EU where by law the VAT has to be included in the price then you get that, but if you live in a country with nothing like that, like the USA, tax gets added at checkout on Steam.
Also the actual devs still get paid a flat fee. Why not go after the publishers and insure that devs get better royalties. As well as not have to crunch? If you want to make the game industry better? There is a lot more than ensuring the publishers get a higher cut. At the bottom
With a 12% revenue cut, and if they propagated through the entire PC gaming industry, that would make it even more possible for more indie developers to self publish, it allows for more profit for them and less reliance on publishers to cover the stuff they normally can't afford
I know you are a business at the end of the day and you need to make money, and thankfully Fortnite gave you the ability to. But you can't say its about making the industry a better place. Why not become a publisher and set an example? Again anti-crunch being an example.
I just feel there are so many better ways than poaching games off Steam, and getting so much bad will with gamers. I think Epic would be an awesome publisher for Indy devs, like you have been doing with a lot of the indie games you have financed. Why not go more that route?
You're not some little indie team with no money, you're an extremely rich team of glorified Steam Poachers throwing millions around in an attempt to kill Steam! I'm proud that I haven't given your store a single penny. I'm thankful to every dev that's rejected your "Devil's deal"
