EGS has an operating cost of ~7% already? Isn't the store still only at a stage where it can only take in a few games at a time? What's the cost going to go up to when you have to manage thousands of games like Steam, along with servers and all that other stuff?
Costs will go down further as we automate the systems enable developers to fully maintain their own game pages. The operating cost of new features is tiny compared to the costs of payment processing and CDN bandwidth for downloading patches.
And generally, if you look at all of the tools and services that developers spend money on, they’re all far better deals than stores - Unreal, Unity, Perforce, Maya, AWS. None mark up their development and operating costs by anything like 4x-5x like 30% stores do.
You call #steam_games a storefront yet it provides so much more! Stop comparing it to the #epicgamesstore. EGS is a mere storefront while Steam provides global infrastructure (multiplayer, voice chat, ...)for gamers and developers! If you do the same from your 12% we can talk...
This isn't the operating costs and haven't ever been and you've already been shown plenty of proof to the contrary. Though we all know you don't actually care. :x
"you've already been shown plenty of proof to the contrary" Any examples?
