"we ask that partners use the service judiciously." Is asking steam to provide service for another store exclusives makes sense? "It is important that you don't give Steam customers a worse deal." And more rules that shows that a store can care for its customers.

The only two EGS games that have costed less to buy are Metro: Exodus & WW Z. And that's 2 games out of a catalogue that's how big exactly? So it's not really worth mentioning to be honest. Every other game costs the same as Steam (sometimes more due to poor regional pricing).

I have never seen publishers pass on savings to consumers when they make more money. They pocket the money but games never get cheaper. Thinking that a publisher/dev is going to pass on savings to consumers if they make a better % in naive. I will believe it when i see it.

Those stores sells Valve distribution services combined with their payment processing. And that distribution services are provided for free, so there is not full competition environment, because "competing" parties don't bear the same costs.
-
On the other side, if competing stores use different infrastructure, like EGS vs Steam vs GoG, there is room for true competition, savings on fee could be honored to customers, lack of store functionality too, by lower prices. But it's only possible without exclusivity deals.

If we look at origin, uplay and battlenet 1st party. They all get 100% revenue but still selling at $60. And if epic have a wallet system, you can pass on the savings by using a cashback system that is usable on next purchase. technically it might circumvent steam policy.
-
Part of that is that they don't want to be in a position of undercutting their retail distributors and stores. As I understand it, the contracts covering the distribution of the physical copies of a game often include provisions for digital pricing.

Literally 2 games have given lower prices because of the Epic Store.
-
And one of them just in the US. Lower prices is just a hollow promise to lure people.

This is just a straw man. Now with your "store" in place, we can actually see that there are no savings passed to consumers. All games are still in the usual price range. It's just a hollow promise to lure gamers.

You are forgetting a HUGE part of competition. Service for the customer. Your store has a very poor customer experience. Even then, key stores still compete on price. https://isthereanydeal.com/game/monsterhunterworld/info/ … Compare that with https://isthereanydeal.com/game/metroexodus/info/ … There are so many better deals on Steam games.
-
How about a triple A game that is even more recent https://isthereanydeal.com/game/devilmaycryv/info/ … Would you look at that. There are historical lows even lower than Steam's low.
