Object Pascal was beautiful, clean pointer syntax, great object model, supported delegate style function pointers (A hassle in C++ for a long time), nested functions.. but Borland saw Visual Basic as competition instead of Watcom. I think it was a mistake..

Same guy who designed Object Pascal (Anders Hejlsberg) later did a fantastic job with C#, and brought over a lot of the nice ideas.

Turbo Pascal was what a truely learned programming in. Good memories. Never made the jump to object pascal, did a little in delphi but.. loved C# when it came out but started disliking it in the long run. Mostly just the bloat MS put around it.
