Object (Borland) Pascal had really beautiful syntax, a lot of things done right, even the inline assembly was great. It was very popular in the 90s, but I think Borland missed the train to protected mode extenders, as they bet for Win32 too early..

I didn’t make the leap to Object Pascal, but writing code in Turbo Pascal in 1991 was my best programming experience. Clear syntax, fast compiles. The world would be a better place if Wirth’s principles had prevailed!

Making a modern Pascal derived language should be relatively easy I think. Wirth's code for Oberon is very concise. Clean lexer, a simple recursive decent parser, and maybe llvm for code gen? Or just support existing Pascal distributions

I'm thinking about a new language derived from Oberon and Ada, only smaller and yes, using LLVM to start with is a goal.
