In response to community feedback, I have reviewed the tone of the Ooblets exclusivity announcement and wish to make the following official statement 1/2

The thing you are missing Tim is that you are objectively making PC gaming worse for consumers. It only benefits Epic when they do this. PC gaming is not console gaming Tim.
-
And before you say funding games is better in the long run. If you really cares about funding games you would just do that without restricting access to the game and limiting potential sales. You are hurting indie devs in the long run

I just don't understand why it is called tearing off fortification between devs and gamers while devs are pissing off and not listening to their customers by signing exclusivity contracts with you.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

If devs/publisher can imply, reassure or outright state Steam (or any other storefront) during their pre-release marketing phase and then go Epic Exclusive later on, can *anything* stated prior to release be trusted anymore? https://blog.rantvoid.com/2019/08/02/epic-game-store-exclusivity-and-developer-trust/ … This sets a bad precedent.

Well yes this is true, there's now tens of games changed the goal posts at the minute. Which when the project was backed by fans is unforgivable. I guess cash speaks louder than integrity for some devs.

Internet Explorer was the biggest browser once and when Chrome come out did they try to get exclusive websites? Better store means more customer will use it, exclusive games is not a pickax, you are just throwing money to get market share. Not benefiting the customers.
-
Be better than Steam and customers will come. You build a worse store than Steam or GOG or Origin and pay for exclusive and want customers to support you? Exclusive is just toxic to the Store market, eventually customers need launcher for each publisher

well why not develop epic first into something decent like having reviews, or offline access, or a forum, or even a shopping cart (lol) BEFORE launching epic and using exclusivity instead of this "fun" show.
-
and what makes it worse in a case like this was that the dev already promised to also use steam etc. you guys can do your exclusivity sure but please dont betray the people who were promised the launch on whatever other platform
